Robert Chapman was born just 15 miles north of the New York Stock Exchange. Growing up close to the financial capital of the world provided natural exposure to the world of finance and the capital markets. As the son of a WW II veteran, he grew up with a strong sense of American pride and affection for capitalism, through stock ownership. Both his parents and grandparents were avid investors when the markets were at a fraction of where they are now. In the first week he was born, his parents and grandparents established a diversified portfolio of stocks that grew well enough to cover all of his college expenses.

New York City’s rich diversified culture and variety of architecturally significant buildings also spawned an interest and affection for architectural design. Robert went on to pursue his boyhood dream of becoming a licensed architect by first completing an Associates Degree in Applied Sciences at the State University of New York at Delhi, and then completing a five-year Professional Bachelor of Architecture Degree at the University of Arizona.

Soon after graduation, Robert established roots in San Diego in 1986. After becoming a Project Architect and contributing as a Team Designer on many projects in the San Diego area, he became very interested in the growing technology boom of the mid-nineties and wanted to capitalize on the opportunity by investing in these rapidly expanding companies. His passion for equity investing was reignited and he decided to pursue a full-time career in the securities industry.

Soon after passing the Series 7 exam, Robert became the Branch Manager for the Del Mar office of Edward Jones Investments, a company that is well respected for its client satisfaction, a training program for Financial Advisors, and one of Forbes "Best Companies to Work For." He remained at the Del Mar branch for seven years, and helped hundreds of investors with their financial planning and investing needs.

In 2002, Robert wanted access to a more sophisticated platform that could satisfy the needs of his higher net worth clients. After diligent research, he was convinced that LPL Financial would be the place to offer his most demanding clients the most comprehensive array of investment choices available in the industry.

In 2006 he teamed up with two Financial Advisors to create a collaborative partnership, Pacific Crest Global Wealth Management. Together, they were able to combine their 25 years of industry experience into triaging complex financial and estate planning cases and offer comprehensive and lasting solutions.

With nearly half our clients now using Apple software products, frustration grew with LPL’s lack of adaptation to the Apple ecosystem. At the end of 2011, Robert moved his practice to the “Apple friendly” Independent Financial Group. This now allows advisors and clients to access account information, paperless statements and financial data from a wide variety of Apple products, such as iPads, Mac’s and iPhones.

*Robert is an Investment Advisor Representative and holds the FINRA Series 7, 63, and 31 registrations, as well as the Series 24 Registered Principal registration with Independent Financial Group. He also holds Life, Disability, Long-Term Care, and Variable Insurance Licenses with the State of California. In 2008, Robert graduated from the Certified Financial Planner Program through the College for Financial Planning. Robert holds the Accredited Investment Fiduciary designation. AIF is the mark that signifies the designee has been formally trained on a complete investment process, consistent with fiduciary standards of care. It adheres to a code of conduct that places the clients best interests first, above all else. 

In 2009 and 2010, Robert was recognized in a San Diego Countywide survey, conducted through San Diego Magazine, as a Five Star Wealth Manager. The overall scoring put him within the top 7% of his peer group. The survey was based upon nine criteria points and included 47,000 responders. Reprints of the survey are available by request.

Over the years, Robert has been involved in many community organizations that include: A Past President of Del Mar Toastmasters International, where he has delivered nearly 30 speeches, mostly on financial topics. Director with the Del Mar Chamber of Commerce. Director with the Del Mar Kiwanis. Founder and President of the Del Mar Chapter of LeTip International. Member of the Carmel Valley Chapter of Business Networking International. Director with the Helen Woodward Planned Giving Committee.

Robert has been married for over 20 years and has a son and a daughter. He enjoys time with his family, golf, tennis, bicycling, hiking, fly fishing and playing music - mostly percussion, guitar, and bass.
